As the name suggests, infrared light therapy is simply a form of therapy that is performed using infrared light. This infrared light is part of the electromagnetic spectrum, which includes, among other things, the light we use to see, the radio waves we use to communicate, and the heat we use to cook. This therapy is also known as low-level laser therapy.
Thus, infrared light is a type of electromagnetic energy. In the electromagnetic spectrum, it lies somewhere midway between the light we see (visible light, which has shorter wavelengths) and radio waves (which have longer wavelengths than infrared light, which is the subject of our discussion here).
